Coronavirus India News highlights: Total confirmed COVID-19 cases have risen to over 13 lakh. India’s recovery rate now stands at 63.5 percent.

Coronavirus News highlights: Today is the 124th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has recorded 13,36,861 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 31,358 deaths, according to news agency PTI. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Assam. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 63.5 percent.

Globally, there have been over 1.56 crore confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 6.38 lakh people have died so far. Catch the highlights here:

    Coronavirus in Meghalaya LIVE Updates | Meghalaya reports 59 more COVID cases; tally rises to 646

    Meghalaya's COVID-19 tally mounted to 646 on Saturday after 59 more people, including six BSF staffers and four police personnel, tested positive for coronavirus, officials said.

    The BSF and police personnel are from East Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills districts respectively.

    While 94 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, five others died.

    Coronavirus in New York LIVE Updates | Cuomo says NY coronavirus hospitalizations continue to drop

    The tallies for people hospitalised in New York with the coronavirus are continuing to drop to the lowest levels since the pandemic began, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.

    There were at least 646 people hospitalised in the state on Friday, a new low since March 18 and down slightly from the previous day, the Democratic governor said in a statement.

    The number of reported deaths in the state rose by one, to 10.New York, once a pandemic hot spot, has so far avoided a surge in new cases like those plaguing other states in the South and West.

    Coronavirus in India LIVE Updates | COVID-19 cases in central police forces cross 10,000-mark

    The total number of COVID-19 cases in central police forces under the command of the Union home ministry crossed the 10,000-mark on Saturday with 421 fresh cases being reported in a day, a latest data said.

    The cases pertain to the seven forces of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

    The maximum cases of 3,341 have been recorded in the CRPF, the country's largest paramilitary force with about 3.25 lakh personnel.

    Himachal Pradesh reported 81 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the state's tally to 2,036.

    The deadly virus has claimed 12 lives in Himachal Pradesh so far, while 1,167 people have recovered and 15 have migrated out of the state.Twenty-two more patients, 21 in Solan and one in Kullu, recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours, Dhiman said.The number of active cases now stands at 840.
