Union Home Minister Amit Shah unequivocally said on Friday that India is not in favour of talks with Pakistan until terrorism ceases, emphasising that "talks and bombs cannot go together".

Shah made these remarks while releasing here the BJP's manifesto for Jammu and Kashmir. He dismissed any possibility of dialogue with Pakistan amidst the ongoing terrorist activities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called the conservation of water and environment a part of India’s cultural consciousness, pitching for the “reduce, reuse, recharge and recycle” mantra to save water.

He was virtually speaking at a programme marking the launch of the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative in Surat, a step aimed at strengthening community involvement in water conservation.

“For water conservation, we have to work on the mantra of ‘reduce, reuse, recharge and recycle’. We also need to adopt innovative techniques and the latest technology to conserve water,” said the PM.

The Supreme Court rejected the plea of Sandip Ghosh, former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, seeking to block the CBI investigation into a graft case against him. Ghosh challenged the Calcutta High Court's decision, but the SC ruled he lacked the locus to intervene in the public interest litigation alleging financial irregularities. Ghosh stated he wasn't opposed to the investigation but objected to the court's observations connecting him to the RG Kar rape incident, calling it unjust.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Neeraj Singal, former promoter of Bhushan Steel, in a money laundering case involving an alleged Rs 46,000 crore bank fraud. The court acknowledged Singal's 16 months of imprisonment and the prolonged trial. He must surrender his passport and cannot leave India without court permission. Singal had challenged a January 8 Delhi High Court order that denied his bail and petition against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
