"During Operation Sindoor the nation saw our resolve," said PM Modi in Udupi. "Brothers and sisters from Karnataka were among the victims of Pahalgam terror attack...Previous governments used to sit idly after terror attack; new India neither bows nor hesitates to protect its people," he added.

"Entire nation knows Udupi's role in Ram Janma Bhoomi movement," says PM Modi. "Udupi is special for me for another reason. Udupi has been a karmabhoomi for the Jana Sangh and for the BJP’s model of good governance. In 1968, the people of Udupi elected our Jana Sangh leader VS Acharya to the municipal council here, and with that, a new foundation of governance was also laid," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Karnataka to visit Udupi’s historic Sri Krishna Math on Friday. According to officials, the Prime Minister will participate in the “Laksha Geeta Pathana”, a mass recitation in which more than one lakh devotees will chant verses from the Bhagavad Gita. He is also expected to offer prayers at the Sri Krishna temple and receive blessings from the presiding Paryaya Swamiji. This will be Modi’s third visit to Udupi and his second to the Sri Krishna Math.

Cyclone Ditwah live: Steady showers in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi

Cyclone Ditwah brewing over the southwestern Bay of Bengal has brought steady showers across the Thoothukudi metropolitan area in Tamil Nadu.

Security forces arrested five people, including four militants belonging to different proscribed outfits, who were allegedly involved in extortion from Imphal East and Imphal West districts, police said on Friday. Three active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) were arrested in Imphal East district on Wednesday, a police statement said. They were allegedly involved in extortion from the public, petrol pumps, private schools, and government colleges in Imphal East area, police said. -- PTI

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has arrived in Chhattisgarh for the 60th edition of the three-day All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police, which begins on Friday, reported PTI. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed Shah after he landed at Swami Vivekananda Airport in a special plane late on Thursday night. The conference will be held at the Indian Institute of Management, Raipur, from November 28 to 30. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also take part on November 29 and 30 and is likely to arrive Raipur on Friday late evening.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert for north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts, as cyclonic storm 'Ditwah' continued its north-northwestward movement over coastal Sri Lanka and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal. In a press bulletin, IMD said that the system, which has intensified with strong winds and the potential for extremely heavy rainfall, is expected to reach the southwest Bay of Bengal near the North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts by early morning of November 30, prompting widespread advisories for coastal residents and fishermen.

A fresh weather system brewing over the southwest Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclonic Storm ‘Ditwah’ on Thursday, just a day after Cyclone Senyar weakened and spared Andhra Pradesh widespread damage. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Ditwah is now on course to make landfall between north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh on November 30, bringing with it a fresh spell of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across coastal and interior regions. At least 22 TTP terrorists were killed by security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the media wing of the country's military said, according to PTI. The operation was conducted on Wednesday in Dera Ismail Khan district of the northwestern province after receiving reports of presence of terrorists belonging to the "Fitna Al-Khawarij", it said. The term Fitna al-Khawarij is used by Pakistani authorities to refer to militants of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake rocked the Anchorage metropolitan area Thursday morning, according to the US Geological Survey, according to Associated Press. The quake struck at about 8:11 am local time at a depth of 69 km, according to the USGS. A massive fire broke out inside a godown in the Kismat Nagar area of Kurla West on Thursday evening, prompting a quick response from the Mumbai Fire Department, reported ANI. According to authorities, multiple fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze, which triggered thick plumes of smoke visible from adjoining localities. Firefighters were engaged in dousing operations, and efforts were made to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures. No injuries have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.
