The Mumbai police arrested a 32-year-old engineer from Gujarat on Tuesday over a social media post about a bomb threat at the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
The accused, identified as Viral Shah from Vadodara, was apprehended by the Mumbai police's crime branch this morning at his residence in Gujarat. This action followed heightened alertness after a threatening post by a user @ffsfir regarding potential security risks at the Ambani wedding event.
The post in question hinted at disruptive consequences from an incident during the Ambani wedding, prompting the Mumbai police to intensify security measures for the high-profile event. An investigation was promptly launched, leading authorities to trace the user to Vadodara. Subsequently, a team from the Mumbai crime branch was dispatched to Vadodara, where they arrested Viral Shah. He is now being transported to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.
Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex. The extravagant event saw a gathering of global celebrities, politicians, prominent figures from the Hindi and south Indian film industries, and top cricketers from India.
