A 23-year-old Agniveer from Alwar has been arrested from his army base in Uttarakhand for alleged involvement in the gang rape of a minor in his home state, according to a report by Times of India.
He has been reportedly sent to 15 days of judicial custody. The matter came to light when the survivor’s father approached Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Bhajanlal Sharma.
Bhavesh, also known as Saurbah, was taken into custody with the aid of army authorities, Alwar SP Anand Sharma told TOI.
According to the report, Bhavesh was a trusted acquaintance of the survivor’s family in Kathumar area, said circle police officer Jogender Singh Rawat.
Bhavesh reportedly lured the minor away to an isolated location and allegedly raped her with along with five accomplices. The FIR was filed on July 12, according to the TOI report.
Meanwhile, the Mohali Police in the last week of July arrested three youths, including an Agniveer, in a vehicle snatching case.
The police said the accused have been identified as Agniveer Ishmeet Singh alias Ishu, Prabhpreet Singh alias Prabh and Balkaran Singh, who had taken a room on rent in Mohali's Balongi.
The trio had two days ago allegedly stolen a car from the driver at gunpoint after booking a ride through an app.
