Shubman Gill's side has started the home season just the way they would have liked, while Roston Chase and Co. will need to take the learnings from this game and come back stronger. A third win in six matches for India in the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, while the West Indies have now lost all four of their outings. The action now shifts north to Delhi, where the second and final Test of the series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from Friday, 10th October. The first ball is scheduled for 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT). As always, we will be with you early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

Ravindra Jadeja is the PLAYER FOR THE MATCH for his brilliant all-round showing. Shares that during the break after the England series, he had been working on his fitness and skills at the Centre of Excellence. Mentions that batting at number 6 allows him to take his time and pace his innings. Says that he enjoys bowling on red-soil tracks as there is always some turn and bounce for him to work with. Tells that he is honoured to be appointed vice-captain for this series and he thanks the captain, the coach and the selectors for giving him this responsibility.

Indian skipper Shubman Gill is up for a word. He begins with a smile about his unusual streak of tosses and says that it is now six losses in a row, but as long as the team keeps winning matches, it doesn’t matter much to him. What matters more, he stresses, is the way the side has been performing together, and he calls this game a near-perfect one for India. Speaking on the batting effort, Gill points out that three different players - KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dhruv Jurel - stepped up with centuries, which set the tone for India. Admits that both he and Jaiswal had starts but couldn’t convert, yet he is happy that others made it count. For him, this was a good wicket to bat on and the team maximised it well. On the challenge of managing three spinners, the Indian captain notes that when you have quality options like Jadeja, Kuldeep, and Washington Sundar, it is never easy to rotate them, but that is also the fun and beauty of playing cricket in India. Notes that there is always someone ready to make a difference, and that depth, he says, is a big plus for the side. Gill adds that over the last couple of years, this group has shown strong character, learning to fight through tough situations together. Mentions the England series as an example of how the team has grown, and believes that as long as India keeps learning and improving, he will be satisfied with the direction they are heading.

The captain of the West Indies, Roston Chase, says that it was always going to be tough after being bowled out for 162 in the first innings and then with the way India piled on the runs. Adds that it was not the performance they were looking for and believes that they need to bat better. Opines that in these conditions, where the pitch usually deteriorates going into Days 4 and 5, you need to post a big first innings total. Shares that he does not regret batting first, as there was always going to be some help for the pacers early on due to the moisture, but as batters, they need to see off that phase. Reckons that they did not make the batters play enough with the second new ball. Overall, he believes that batting is the main problem, and they must string partnerships.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

Mohammed Siraj is up for a quick chat. He says that he is feeling great and is pleased with how the team has performed with both bat and ball. Speaking about his three wickets in the second innings, he mentions that he really enjoyed bowling in Ahmedabad, though the pitch felt a bit on the slower side as the game progressed. On the batting effort, Siraj notes that everyone stepped up when required, whether it was Shubman Gill at the top or KL Rahul carrying forward his fine form from the England series. Stresses that collective responsibility made the difference for India. Signs off by saying it feels nice to get a couple of days off in this Ahmedabad heat, and he is happy to have contributed to the team’s success.

From there, the West Indies were left playing catch-up, with Jayden Seales carrying too heavy a burden in a depleted pace attack, missing both Josephs, Alzarri and Shamar. The spin trio, including debutant Khary Pierre, were also in for a long toil. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dhruv Jurel capitalised on batting-friendly conditions across Days 1 and 2, each scoring centuries to propel India into a commanding lead. It was Rahul’s first Test hundred at home since 2016, Jurel notched a maiden Test ton, while Jadeja rounded off an all-round performance with four wickets in the second innings to go with his century.

Earlier in the game, Roston Chase elected to bat first, but it hardly went to plan for the tourists. They lost five wickets in the opening session and another five in the next, eventually folding for just 162. Roston Chase, Shai Hope, and Justin Greaves offered brief sparks of resistance, but the visitors needed much more to challenge the might of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav. Siraj led the way with four wickets, Bumrah claimed three, and Kuldeep chipped in with two.

A 286-run lead at the end of Day 2 was one India were happy with, and they decided to declare overnight. Sent in to bat, Tagenarine Chanderpaul was the first to fall. While the West Indies managed to survive the initial onslaught from Bumrah and Siraj without further damage, the challenge only intensified once the spinners came on. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar made life difficult for the tourists. Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves got starts and showed resistance, but their defiance did not last long.

A dominant showing puts India 1-0 up in the series! With a win margin of an innings and 140 runs, this marks India’s third-biggest victory against the West Indies in Tests in terms of runs. It was one-way traffic right from the opening morning, and the West Indies simply never managed to turn up for the fight. For a relatively inexperienced Windies side, it has been a tough learning curve, but one they will be better for as they move forward.

45.1OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! DONE AND DUSTED! India win the first Test match by an innings and 140 runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the two-match series. Kuldeep dishes a full ball, lands it in the rough, around off. Jayden Seales remains leg side of the ball and tries to take on the bowler as he was doing in the last couple of overs. He tries to smoke it downtown, but the ball is a bit full and ends up playing it back off the toe end of the bat. Kuldeep gets a bit surprised and brings both his hands in front to take it, but fails to grab, and the ball pops out after hitting his chest. He shows his composure and manages to pouch it on the second attempt. This is a big win for India to kick-start their home season, and they have been clinical in every department, showing their dominance.

44.6Follows the batter, short and down leg, Jayden Seales backs away and punches it to the right of long off for a single.

44.5Short and outside off, Seales presses back and cuts it towards deep point for a couple of runs.

44.4Full and outside off, Jayden Seales gets down and skies his sweep shot towards deep backward square leg. Washington Sundar runs to his right and seems to have misjudged the ball as it lands ahead of him. Two runs taken.

44.4SIX! TONKED! Full and outside off, Jayden Seales clears his front leg away and thumps it over the long off fence for a biggie. Uh-oh! Jadeja has overstepped and it is called a NO BALL.

44.3Short and outside off, Khary uses his feet, adjusts his shot and pushes it to the right of the bowler for a single.

44.2Remains a bit low, full and around middle, Seales goes on his back foot and tucks it towards backward square leg for one.

44.1Spinning in, full and outside off, defended back to the bowler off the front foot.

43.6Much shorter and outside off, Khary Pierre goes back and cuts it well but finds the backward point fielder. Fails to find the gap.

43.5Touch short and outside off, dabbed down to cover point off the back foot.

43.4Full and outside off, left alone by KP.

43.3In the rough, full and outside off, Khary goes for an expansive drive but the ball lands in the rough and spins away sharply towards first slip, where Rahul grabs it to his left.

43.2Floated, full and outside off, Khary gets down and looks to reverse-sweep it but misses again.

43.1Full and outside off, Khary tries to squeeze it out but misses.

42.6Loud appeal for LBW from Jadeja but the umpire shakes his head. Short and spins back in, outside off, Jayden Seales gets across but goes deep in his crease and looks to use his wrist to flick it but misses. Gets rapped high on the back thigh. Height could be the issue.

42.5Full and straight, around off, Seales uses his feet and drills it to mid on.

42.4Slower through the air, full and outside off, Jayden Seales gets down and tries to sweep it but misses. Wears it on his right forearm before it rolls down to backward point.

42.3FOUR! Jayden Seales is entertaining, surely! Short and outside off, Seales presses back and punches it through covers for a boundary.

42.2SIX! WOAH! Jayden Seales has come out to swing at everything! Full and outside off, in the rough, Seales sits down, picks it up and slog-sweeps it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

Jayden Seales is the last man in.

42.1OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Ravindra Jadeja returns and picks up his fourth wicket! Jadeja gives the ball a bit of air, on a nagging length, turning away. Layne swings to launch it down the ground but the ball is not quite full enough. It spins away to catch the toe end of the bat and it gets skied towards long off. Mohammed Siraj runs in off the ropes and takes the catch close to his body at waist height.

Change. Ravindra Jadeja is back. 11-3-30-3 so far.

41.6Sliding on with the arm, short and on leg, Pierre goes on the back foot and taps it to short mid-wicket.

41.5Floated up, on a length, on middle, Pierre steps out and firms the drive to mid off.

41.4FOUR! BANG! A bit too full from Kuldeep at 84.7 kph, Pierre clears the front leg, gets under the ball and slams it back over the bowler's head for four more.

41.3Loopy ball, at the toes, Khary digs it out beside the strip on the leg side.

41.2FOUR! Cracked away! Kuldeep drops it short, outside off, Pierre is quick to get on the back foot and punches it to the left of deep point for a boundary.

41.1Short and on off, Khary hangs on the back foot to defend.

40.6FOUR MORE! Siraj goes a bit fuller and outside off, Johann Layne comes forward and drives it through extra covers for another boundary.

40.5FOUR! Good shot! On a length and around off, Johann Layne hangs back and throws his hands at it. Drives it on the up and gets it past the mid off fielder to his right for a boundary.

40.4Spears it full and around middle, Layne clears his front leg, stays leg side of the ball and pushes it to mid off.

40.3Oh, a rare loosener from Siraj! Full but sliding down leg, Layne leaves it.

40.2Touch fuller and outside off, angling in, Layne comes forward and pushes it to cover.

40.1Bowled it full and outside off, Johann Layne comes forward and drives it off the toe end of the bat. The ball goes in the gap towards extra cover. The skipper, Shubman Gill, gives it a big chase and manages to stop it inside the boundary cushions. Two runs taken.

39.6Touch short and outside off, Khary goes back and drops it down towards cover point.

39.5Again, same line and length, in the rough, Khary pushes it to short cover off the front foot.

39.4In the rough, full and outside off, Khary lunges and pushes it to short cover.

39.3Tossed it up, full and outside off, Khary lets it be.

39.2Slower through the air, full and around middle, Khary Pierre sits down and tries to sweep it but gets a top edge. The ball gets chipped in the air but in the gap behind the square leg fielder. Two runs taken.

39.1Short and outside off, Khary presses back and defends it towards cover.

DRINKS BREAK! Just the last rites remain to be written in this Test. West Indies managed to bat only 44.1 overs in their first innings, and their second effort looks likely to finish around the same mark. A couple of batters got starts but could not convert, and the writing is on the wall. Shubman Gill backed his bowlers to get the job done, having declared overnight, and they have not disappointed.

38.6Nice, excellent yorker, around off, Layne jams it down beside the pitch on the leg side.

38.5Touch full and angling in, a bit outside off, Layne remains leg side of the ball and has a tentative poke at it. Misses his shot.

38.4FOUR! Johann Layne gets his first runs in Test cricket! On a length and outside off, Layne gets forward, gets on top of the bounce and crunches it to the left of backward point for a boundary. Also, 100 comes up for the Windies.

38.3Effort ball, short of a length and around off, angling in, Layne sways away from it.

38.2Pitched up, around middle, bit of reverse-swing, Layne digs it out off the toe end of the bat to the right of the bowler.

38.1Lands it full and outside off, Layne throws his hands at it and pushes it off the toe end of the bat to mid on.

37.6Slower through the air, full and outside off, Khary leaves it.

37.5A bit short and around off, Khary presses back and defends it towards cover point.

37.4Full and outside off, Khary Pierre gets down and tries to sweep it but misses.

37.3Tossed up, turning away a bit, on middle, Pierre gets to the pitch of the ball and pushes it to mid off.

37.2Loopy ball, on middle, Khary takes it on the full and drives it to mid off.

37.1Darted in, on a length, on off, Khary defends it off the front foot.

Khary Pierre walks in next.

36.6OUT! TAKEN! Oh, what happened there? The bat went flying one way and the ball in the other direction! And the Windies lose their eighth wicket. On a length and a bit outside off. Jomel Warrican remains deep in his crease, crouches a bit and swings to go down the ground. He goes with hard hands and loses his grip. The bat flies beside the pitch on the leg side, but the ball gets mistimed off the toe end of the bat towards mid off. Shubman Gill moves to his right there and pouches it. Indians are all smiles, and Jomel walks back for a two-ball duck.

36.5On a back of a length and around off, defended back to the bowler off the back foot.

Jomel Warrican walks out to the centre.

36.4OUT! LBW! GONE! The Windies sink further. Siraj fires in a well-directed yorker, around middle and leg, from over the wicket. The ball angles in from that wide of the crease angle and tails back in as well. Justin Greaves gets a bit surprised as he tries to bring his bat down in time and looks to defend it, but misses. The ball sneaks under the bat and gets rapped low on the front pad. An appeal goes for LBW, and the umpire raises his finger. However, Justin Greaves takes a review straightaway. The third umpire is called in, and there is nothing on the UltraEdge. The Ball Tracking comes up as umpire's call with the ball clipping the leg stump. The on-field call is upheld, and Justin will have to walk back. The Windies are 98/7.

36.3Hard length and around off, Justin gets across, covers his off stump and defends it towards silly mid on.

36.2Short of a length and outside off, Greaves shifts his weight on the front foot and punches it towards cover, where the fielder dives to his right and makes a half-stop.

36.1Back of a length and around middle, angling in, Justin gets across and clips it to mid on.

35.6FOUR BYES! WOW! How has it missed everything? This slides on with the arm from the around-the-wicket angle. Khary Pierre lunges to defend it but misses. The ball goes through the gap between the pad and the bat. The keeper, Dhruv Jurel also fails to gather it to his right and it races away to deep fine leg.

35.5Extra bounce, short and around off, Pierre lunges and tries to defend it but gets hit high on the handle of the bat due to extra bounce. It rolls down towards cover.

35.4Full and around off, Khary Pierre prods forward and just taps it. The ball goes through the gap between silly mid off and short cover for a couple of runs.

Khary Pierre is in next.

35.3OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Sundar strikes and the fighting knock of Alick Athanaze comes to an end. Sundar flights it up, full and around off, gets it to pitch in the rough and gets some turn. Alick prods forward, goes across and tries to flick it. But the ball shoots up a bit and takes the leading edge before lobbing back to the bowler. Sundar moves to his right, extends both his arms and pouches it at chest height. Alick departs for 38 (74) and the Windies are 92/6, trailing by 194 runs.

35.2Nicely bowled! From wide of the crease, angles in, but then spins away after hitting the rough, short and outside off, Alick Athanaze goes back and looks to punch at first but gets beaten on the outside edge.

35.1A slider, full and around off, knocked down to wide long on for a single.

34.6Oh, a surprise yorker, tailing back in, around middle, Justin shows good reflexes and brings his bat down to flick it. The ball goes uppishly but beats the short leg fielder to his left for a boundary.

34.5Back of a length and around off, Justin gets behind the line of the delivery and rides the bounce before dabbing it down into the deck.

34.4Another hitting the deck hard delivery, short of a good length, angling in, around middle, Justin Greaves ducks again.

34.3Bowled it relatively fuller and outside off, Greaves prods forward and drives it to mid off.

34.2There comes a bouncer, around off, effort ball, Justin ducks under it to let it pass.

34.1Begins with a length ball that angles back in, around off, Justin Greaves gets across and defends it back to the bowler. Siraj collects it on his follow-through and fires a throw back at the batting end but misses to hit the stumps. Passes a cheeky smile to Greaves.

Will Bumrah bowl another? Nope, Siraj replaces him. 7-1-16-1 so far for Siraj.

33.6Round-arm, full and loopy, around off, Alick plants his front leg forward and across before tapping it down into the deck.

33.5Sliding on the pads, Justin gets across and flicks it to backward square leg. Calls his partner for a quick single.

33.4An arm ball, full and outside off, JG prods forward and pushes it towards cover.

33.3Dragged length and around off, it remains a bit low, Justin goes on his back foot and adjusts well with the low bounce to defend it towards short leg.

33.2Tossed it up, full and outside off, Justin strides forward and keeps it out towards cover.

33.1Slower, full and around off, Justin Greaves lunges and defends it back to the bowler.

The Windies physio rushes out to the middle, as Alick Athanaze got a severe blow on his helmet on the last delivery. A slight halt in the play, as a mandatory concussion test is currently underway. Also, some refreshment drinks for both batters. Change of helmet for Alick, and he looks fine to continue further.

32.6BANG ON THE HELMET! A fiery effort ball from Bumrah - short and around off. Alick Athanaze spots the length but completely misjudges the pace. Tries to get under it but is a touch late, and the ball thuds straight into the helmet! That one will rattle anyone's thoughts for a second. He seems okay, but as per protocol, the medics are out for a mandatory concussion check.

32.5Jasprit Bumrah is mixing up his lengths here. Delivers a near yorker again, around off, Alick Athanaze defends it from the inner half of the bat to the leg side.

32.4Slower one, at 119 kph, targeting the stumps with a length delivery, Alick Athanaze defends it safely again. Doesn't fall for the bluff.

32.3A 140.6 kph delivery, on a length around off, this time Alick Athanaze defends it from the back foot.

32.2A booming yorker from Bumrah, around off at 140.9 kph, Alick Athanaze is ready and digs it out safely, although from the bottom part of his bat.

32.1Bouncer down the leg side, easily evaded by Alick Athanaze as he ducks.

The partnership is stretched to 43 now, with this pair of Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves battling out. Alick just survived due to an inside edge, and the pitch has demons to show. The Indian spin trio are continuing to extract that.

31.6Goes on the back foot and works it through mid-wicket for a single.

31.5LBW SHOUT! Given. Alick Athanaze instantly takes the DRS. It's a delivery around off and skidding into the left-hander. Alick Athanaze goes on the back foot to defend but fails to connect properly. It seems to hit him on the back leg and up goes the finger after the appeal. The third umpire checks the replays and finds a clear inside edge. Clever from Sundar there to outfox the batter but the inside edge came to Alick's rescue.

31.4Tossed up around off, slower through the air and spinning away, Alick Athanaze tries to sweep but misses. It goes off his pads to first slip.

31.3Floats it up and bowls it full on off, Greaves pushes it down to long on and takes the single.

31.2Beats the outside edge. A slight inquiry for a caught behind, not given. Sundar delivers this outside off and gets it to go straight on, Justin Greaves is beaten on the outside edge as he lunges to defend. The keeper, Dhruv Jurel, does well to hold onto it behind the wickets, who fumbled at first, but gathers it in the second attempt.

31.1Flighted and full, around off, Alick Athanaze drives it out of the rough through cover-point for a single.

30.6Slower one, in the channel outside off, after facing a nasty one on the last delivery, Justin Greaves this time decides not to touch it.

30.5Back of a length, around off, Justin Greaves gets into a tangle and defends it somehow from the back foot. The replay shows that he did it with his gloves.

30.4Sliding down the leg side, Alick Athanaze tickles it fine down to fine leg for a single.

30.3IN THE AIR... A short one on off, and Alick goes for the pull but doesn't quite get hold of it. It pops up off the bat, hanging in the air for a moment, but lands safely over mid-wicket. Not the cleanest strike, more heart-in-mouth than power-packed! Two runs taken.

30.2A touch short again, around off at 137 kph, Athanaze defends it off the back foot again, towards covers.

30.1Back of a length, around off, at 139.8 kph, Alick Athanaze defends it off the back foot to the off side.

29.6Turning in from around off, a bit short, Greaves uses the depth of the crease and flicks it to mid-wicket. Dot ball to end the over, a good one for West Indies, 7 coming off it.

The Indian skipper, Shubman Gill, isn't on the field for now. Don't know the reason, but in his absence, Ravindra Jadeja would be leading the Indian troops.

29.5Flatter and a bit shorter on off, Alick Athanaze goes on the back foot and sends it down to long on for one.

29.4Full and on middle, knocked down to long on for a single.

29.3FOUR! Nicely placed. Loopy and full, around off, Justin Greaves is trying to be positive. He brings out the reverse sweep and places it past Nitish Kumar Reddy to his right at backward point for a boundary.

29.2Fuller and on middle, helped towards mid-wicket for a single.

29.1Extra lift off the surface as it spins away from a full length outside off, Alick tries to drive but misses.

28.6FOUR! Shot! Bumrah returns to over the wicket for the right-hander and delivers it on a length outside off, Justin Greaves gets forward and shows the full face of the bat. Good timing and it races through mid off for a boundary.

28.5Jasprit Bumrah comes from 'round the wicket and serves a full ball on off. Alick Athanaze goes nowhere with his footwork and tries to defend. It takes the inner half and rolls through square leg. Washington Sundar rushes across to his right from deep fine leg and stops the ball. Three runs taken.

28.4Soft hands at work. Length ball on off at 134.8 kph, Greaves is half forward with an angled bat and drops it towards the gap at point. They cross for a single.

28.3This one is angled in, at 139.3 kph, full and targeting the off stump, Greaves has the line covered as he defends it off the front foot.

28.2Beats the bat this time. Bumrah delivers it on a good length, just around off at 134.5 kph and gets it to hold its line. Greaves stays back to push inside the line and misses.

28.1A 134.2 kph first delivery, on a good length and around off, Justin Greaves stays on the back foot and blocks it to the off side.

Spin from the other end, too? Nope, it will be Jasprit Bumrah for his second spell.

27.6Tossed up around off, full in length, Alick Athanaze defends it off the front foot to cover-point.

27.5Goes down on one knee for a full ball outside off and sweeps it through square leg for a single.

27.4Beaten. Clever from Sundar. Serves an arm ball, outside off and skidding straight on, Justin Greaves is on the front foot, expecting it to spin back in but it goes straight on to beat the outside edge. A good take by Dhruv Jurel.

27.3Shout for an lbw! Not given. Sundar goes flat and a bit quicker through the air, around middle and leg and sliding down. Justin Greaves goes back and tries to flick but misses. He is rapped on the pads but the appeal is not entertained. Perhaps going down leg.

27.2Flighted again, full and around off, Alick plays it with soft hands and with the spin. It rolls towards covers and they pinch a single.

27.1Sundar begins with a flighted delivery around off, skidding back in a bit, Alick Athanaze defends it from the crease.

Back for the Post-Lunch session! The players of India are back in the outfield, taking their respective positions. They need five wickets and would be looking to close out as soon as they can. Also, the two unbeaten batters of the Windies stride out, who would be feeling extreme pressure for survival. Alick Athanaze will resume the innings alongside Justin Greaves. India have handed the ball to Washington Sundar to start with after Lunch. With two slips and a short leg, Sundar to Alick. Here we go...

... DAY 3, SESSION 2 ...

As the ball softens, there may be less bite off the surface than with the hard new cherry, but India’s spinners have footmarks to exploit. The challenge will remain stiff when play resumes after the break. That said, the tourists can draw some hope from the two men at the crease, with Justin Greaves having shown application against spin in the first innings and Athanaze doing the same here. Will this Test stretch into the third session of Day 3, or will India seal the deal in the second session? We shall soon find out. The second session will get underway at 12.10 pm IST (6.40 am GMT). Do join us then. Cheers!

Five wickets in the morning session have left West Indies staring down the barrel. With India declaring overnight, the West Indies' top order faced a stern test at the start of the day. Mohammed Siraj removed Tagenarine Chanderpaul in a probing seven-over spell, but the real damage arrived once spin was introduced. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav combined to heap further misery on the visitors. Alick Athanaze, though, stood out with his decisiveness in footwork and offered stubborn resistance to see off the session alongside Justin Greaves.

26.6Flighted, full and around off, Justin lunges and tries to defend it but gets it off the inner half of the bat. The ball rolls away to mid-wicket. And that will be LUNCH ON DAY 3!

26.5Lands it full and around middle, defended off the front foot back to the bowler.

26.4Another huge appeal for LBW but the umpire shakes his head. Full and around off, Justin Greaves comes forward to defend it but gets an inside edge onto his front pad.

26.3Angles back in, full and down leg, Justin Greaves goes back and misses his tickle shot. The keeper does well to move to his left and gather it behind the wickets.

26.2Full and around middle, knocked down to long on for a single.

26.1Short and around off, Alick presses back and tucks it in the gap to the left of mid-wicket for a couple of runs. Mohammed Siraj hunts it down from square leg. Alick is keen to pinch the third one but Justin sends him back.

25.6A MISFIELD AND A FOUR! Full and around off, Justin Greaves changes his stance and grip to reverse-sweep it towards backward point. Nitish Kumar Reddy gets down there but fails to collect the ball and lets it go through his legs. The ball races away to deep third.

25.5Switches to around the wicket, tosses it up, full and around off, hitting the rough. Justin Greaves lunges to defend but misses. Wears it on his front pad before the ball lobs up in front of short leg.

25.4Nagging length and around leg, JG goes back, adjusts his shot as the ball remains a bit low, and clips it to short leg.

25.3Drops it a bit short, around off, Justin goes back and defends it solidly.

25.2More spin, full and around off, Justin prods forward and goes across to flick it towards mid-wicket.

25.1Full and around off, Justin gets across and tucks it to the left of mid-wicket.

24.6Round-arm, slow and full, around middle, Alick prods forward and defends it back to the bowler.

24.5FOUR! SUPERB! Full and around off, Alick Athanaze again changes his stance and grip before reverse-sweeping it in the gap towards backward point for a boundary. He has been good so far with his unorthodox shots.

24.4Lands it full and around off, defended towards cover off the front foot.

24.3Massive appeal of LBW from Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja but the umpire remains unmoved! However, Shubman Gill asks his keeper and takes a review. India declared their innings overnight, immediately putting the Windies on the back foot and making use of the early moisture in the pitch that allows their seamers to thrive. The openers played well initially, but a fantastic catch by Nitish Kumar Reddy ended their resistance. After a few unsuccessful appeals, Jadeja, too, managed to take the wicket of the other opener. Now, the onus is on two new relatively batters of the Windies to show resistance and not lose any more wickets in this first session. When will India play their other trump card in Kuldeep? Find out in the next hour with us!
