He reached the mark in the first over post tea, nudging leg spinner Rehan Ahmed for 2 runs to complete his ton. This is one of his more important innings, especially since India were in trouble in the mornig at 33/3

India reach tea at 185/3 as skipper Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of a century. Sharma is unbeaten on 73 while Jadeja is nearing his half century with 41 to his name. India is 133/3 after 39 overs

Skipper Rohit Sharma hit his 17th half century in Test matches just before lunch, on Day 1 of the third Test at Rajkot. India heads to lunch at 93/3 after 25 overs. The English bowlers made early inroads as they skittled out India's top order very cheaply. Mark Wood struck an early double blow, sending opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (10 of 10) and Shubman Gill (0 of 9) back to the hut within the first 6 overs of the innings. Spinner Tom Hartley got into the act, snapping up Rajat Patidar for 5 off 15. At the crease are Rohit Sharma (52 of 74) and Ravindra Jadeja (24 of 44).
