Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently disclosed that Ashok Elluswamy, of Indian origin, was the inaugural recruit for the electric vehicle company's Autopilot team. Elluswamy played an important role in spearheading Autopilot engineering.
"Ashok was the first person recruited from my tweet saying that Tesla is starting an Autopilot team!" Musk tweeted, expressing gratitude to Elluswamy for his contributions.
Elluswamy's journey began as the initial member of the Tesla AI/Autopilot team, eventually ascending to the position of head of Autopilot engineering. Musk emphasized Elluswamy's significance, stating, "Without him and our awesome team, we would just be another car company looking for an autonomy supplier that doesn’t exist."
Musk also clarified that he was unaware of Elluswamy's tweet until he stumbled upon it recently, debunking any notion of his involvement in prompting the acknowledgment.
Elluswamy's appointment underscores Tesla's commitment to innovation and diversity in its workforce, with his leadership playing a crucial role in shaping the company's advancements in autonomous driving technology.
As Tesla continues to push boundaries in the electric vehicle industry, Elluswamy's pioneering role serves as a testament to the talent and expertise driving the company's success.
