Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has secured a Letter of Award (LOA) from NHPC for a solar power and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, the company announced.
The project encompasses the installation of 700 MWp solar DC capacity and 780 MWhr of BESS capacity.
The deal positions Reliance Group as India's largest player in the solar + BESS segment, with 3 GWp of solar capacity and over 3.5 GWhr of storage capacity.
The project is a 390 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) - connected solar power project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Upon commissioning, the project will add 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWhr of BESS capacity to Reliance Group's renewable portfolio.
The winning tariff for the project was discovered at INR 3.13/kWh.
The project is part of a broader tender by NHPC, which saw participation from 15 entities, with 14 qualifying for the e-reverse auction. The tender was oversubscribed by nearly 4 times, indicating strong market interest.
Reliance Power, another group entity, holds a renewable energy portfolio of approximately 2.5 GWp of Solar and 2.5 GWhr of BESS capacity. With this new addition, the group's combined clean energy pipeline now exceeds 3 GWp of Solar DC capacity and over 3.5 GWhr of BESS capacity.
