Moneycontrol BureauShares of Great Eastern Shipping Company added more than 2 percent intraday Thursday after raising Rs 500 crore via issue of unsecured non-convertible debentures."The company's debenture issue committee has at its meeting held January 16, allotted 7.99% 5000 unsecured non-convertible debentures of face value of Rs 10 lakhs each aggregating to Rs 500 crore in two tranches of Rs 250 crore each," as per company release.The company took delivery of a secondhand Aframax crude carrier ‘Jag Leela’ (built 2011) of about 105,525 dwt. The company had contracted to buy the vessel in November 2016.With the inclusion of this vessel, the company's current fleet stands at 40 vessels, comprising 25 tankers (8 crude carriers, 15 product tankers, 2 LPG carrier) and 15 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 8 Kamsarmax, 6 Supramax) with an average age of 9.33 years aggregating 3.12 mn dwt.Additionally, the company has committed to purchase 1 secondhand Aframax and 3 secondhand Suezmaxes.At 10:21 Great Eastern Shipping Company was quoting at Rs 392.50, up Rs 7.70, or 2 percent on the BSE.Posted by Rakesh Patil
