MCHI's comment on Housing regulatory Bill

Maharashtra Cabinet has decided to set up a housing regulatory authority. Paras Gundecha, President of MCHI's (Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry) welcomes the Maharashtra Cabinet's decision to set up a housing regulatory authority.


However, he says, certain major concerns remain, such as, it should not be just the developer/ builder who should be held responsible in case of delays in completing projects, as there are multiple factors which are beyond the control of the developer.


"In the interest of all stake holders, competent authorities including passing authorities, the high rise committee, the MOEF and also further CC & OC certificates should be cleared with top priority within a certain time frame. These departments should be made responsible for giving time bound sanctions and permissions, and hence, its suggested that one window clearance be implemented," he further added.
