Snapdeal appoints Jason Kothari as CEO of FreeCharge, to invest $20 million

March 20, 2017 / 13:31 IST

E-commerce major Snapdeal today appointed Jason Kothari as the CEO of FreeCharge. It also committed to invest an additional USD 20 million in the e-wallet firm.

Earlier this year, Kothari took over the business operations of FreeCharge after Govind Rajan quit as CEO of the company.

In addition to taking on the role of the CEO, Kothari will continue his key leadership role as Chief Strategy & Investment Officer at Snapdeal. He will also join the Board of Directors of FreeCharge.

Snapdeal’s Kunal Bahl in a statement said, “Jason is a strong, strategic and versatile business leader & entrepreneur who has already been the CEO of two successful companies. We are delighted to announce his leadership role at FreeCharge.”

Before joining Snapdeal, Kothari was the CEO of Housing.com, where he led the successful turnaround of the company from a position of distress to a market leader in one and a half years using organic and inorganic growth.
