ICICI Pru's equity fund manager Vinay Sharma joins Reliance Mutual Fund

According to market grapevine, Sharma may oversee Reliance Banking Fund along with other funds.

Vinay Sharma, the star fund manager of ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has moved to Reliance Mutual Fund with immediate effect.

Sharma, who has spent over eight years at ICICI Prudential, managed the ICICI Prudential Banking & Financial Services Fund. The asset under management of the scheme stood at Rs 286.05 crore as of December 31, 2017.

According to market grapevine, Sharma may oversee Reliance Banking Fund among others.

ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has witnessed two big exits in almost a year, wherein Manish Gunwani, quit to join Reliance Mutual Fund as chief investment officer-equities in July 2017, which was followed by Sharma joining Reliance Mutual Fund. Gunwani has earlier managed assets worth over Rs 40,000 crore.

Sharma was previously involved in managing strategies related to pure large cap and multi cap funds, among others.

Prior to this, he was an analyst at AIG Global Asset Management India Limited and JP Morgan India Private Limited.

In March 2017, Reliance Mutual Fund had roped in IDFC Mutual Fund’s Meenakshi Dawar as equity fund manager.

Varun Goel, Vice President-Fund Manager, Portfolio Management Services at Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company, also had joined Reliance Mutual Fund as fund manager in portfolio management services (PMS) team.
