After a couple of rangebound sessions, the bulls took charge of Dalal Street on October 14 and took Nifty to cross 25,150, intraday, amid buying seen across the sectors, barring metal and media.
At close, the Sensex was up 591.69 points or 0.73 percent at 81,973.05, and the Nifty was up 163.70 points or 0.66 percent at 25,128.

The GIFT Nifty is trading higher, indicating a positive start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 25,233.50 at 07:00 am IST.
Asian Equities (Gain)
Asian markets rose, following gains on Wall Street that saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 reach new record highs.

Wall Street ended higher on Monday, with both the S&P 500 and the Dow posting fresh record finishes, as investors bought into technology stocks ahead of a busy week packed with corporate earnings and crucial economic data.
The S&P 500 gained 44.82 points, or 0.77%, to 5,859.85 points, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 159.75 points, or 0.87%, to 18,502.69. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 201.36 points, or 0.47%, to 43,065.22.

The US 10-year Treasury yield fell 38 bps at 4.08 percent and US 2-year bond yield was down 16 bps at 3.94 percent.

The U.S. dollar was perched at an over two-month high against major currencies on Tuesday, spurred by wagers the Federal Reserve will proceed with modest rate cuts in the near term, while the yen inched closer to the key 150 per dollar level.

Asian currencies were trading mostly higher in the early trade on Tuesday with Japanese Yen gained the most followed by Thai Baht and Singapore Dollar. On the other hand, South Korean Won and China Renminbi were down marginally.

Oil prices slid USD 2 in early Asian trade on Tuesday as OPEC lowered its outlook for global oil demand growth in 2024 and 2025 and a media report that Israel is willing to strike Iranian military and not nuclear or oil targets.

Gold prices were trading flat at around USD 2649, while Silver prices were up marginally at USD 31.24 in the early trade on Tuesday.

All the commodities were trade weak in the early trade on Tuesday with Zinc shed more than 2 percent, and Lead fell 1.5 percent.

The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) extended their selling on October 14 as they sold equities worth Rs 3,731 crore, on the other hand, domestic institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 2,278.09 crore on the same day.
