The return-hungry investors might get disappointed as D-Street might not give a repeat performance of the year 2017, but the country could grow much faster than anticipated, Porinju Veliyath, Equity Intelligence India said in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
His mantra for the year 2018 is to ‘Catch them young’. He advises investors to focus on India’s emerging companies to create wealth, he said in a Tweet earlier today.
The master of midcaps said Tata Group is looking at bringing in synergies by consolidating businesses. Tata Group has huge potential to restructure, consolidate and create more entities. That is the best way to create wealth.
The best way to create wealth for investors is to catch them young. We know that equity is a risk, but this is the biggest misconception of the century, said Porinju. He further explains that equity as an asset class might not be termed risk but picking a wrong stock is risky.
I have been in markets for the last 28 years and have never seen or faced risk in equity investing, explains Porinju. We should avoid campaign such as ‘Equity is risky’. Equity investment is not a risk but equity gambling is.
“It is time India should revise this disclaimer and campaign,” he said.
Commenting on politics, Porinju said that Rajinikanth’s entry is positive for politics. He is a man who is a successful person. He has already made his money, fortunes or respect because he already has those things.
It is a New Year gift to the people of Tamil Nadu. The impact will be felt on the economy which could grow 2-3 percent faster for the next decade, he said in a tweet. He further added that he won’t be surprised if “#Thalaivar fetches 100% seats in the next TN elections - Today is like May-2014 moments when India got a great leader for the first time in many decades!,” said his tweet.
