- BSE Sensex ends flat; midcap stocks outperform

Key equity benchmarks consolidated today and managed to end in green after touching fresh multi-year highs in trade today. Shares of banks, realty, auto, pharma and capital goods continued to see buying in trade and closed with smart gains.

- Bajaj Auto Q4 net down 1% at Rs 766 cr; beats street

India's second largest motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto's fourth quarter net profit slipped lower-than-expected 1 percent year-on-year to Rs 766 crore, amid sluggish demand for two-wheelers.

- Gold demand in India rises by 27% in Jan-Mar: WGC

Gold demand in India, the world's largest consumer, rose by 27 per cent to 256.5 tonnes in the first quarter of 2013, World Gold Council (WGC) said today. The demand for the precious metal stood at 202.1 tonnes in the same quarter last year, it said.

- Wockhardt, 3 other shares up on MSCI India index inclusion

Shares of Apollo Hospitals , Oil India , Wockhardt and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare firmed up on news that they would be included in the (Morgan Stanley Capital International) India index from next month.

- Spot fixing: Sreesanth, 2 Rajasthan Royals players arrested

Three Rajasthan Royals players including Indian paceman S Sreesanth were arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of spot fixing. The two other players arrested are Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.

- United Spirits net jumps; shrs slip as Diageo offer fails

Vijay Mallya owned United Spirits reported a more-than five fold jump in Q4 net profit at Rs 56 crore, while revenue gained 11 percent to Rs 2,058 crore. However, shares were down 1.5 percent following failure of Diageo's open offer.

- Helped by Cairn India, Vedanta core profits up 21% at $4.8b

Buoyed by earnings from subsidiary Cairn India and higher metals production, Vedanta Resources today reported a 21 percent increase in its core profits at USD 4.888 billion for the year ended March, 2013.

- Sanjay Dutt leaves home to surrender before court

Film actor Sanjay Dutt left his Bandra residence this afternoon to surrender before the designated TADA court here to serve a three-and-a-half year sentence in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case.
