Add carpets or rugs on floors

Whether marble or stone, these floors tend to get extremely cold in winter. Stepping barefoot on them makes you feel even more chilly. Hence, it’s best to introduce carpets and rugs that add warmth to the space. Unlike bare surfaces, they make the home feel cosy and beautiful. If you don’t want to carpet the entire area, you can also use rugs.

Use curtains for doors and windows

It’s a traditional practice to stop air from entering the house by fully covering doors and windows with curtains. During the day, you can open the curtains to let sunlight in and close them in the evening when it gets chilly. For tiny gaps that allow air to enter your house, seal them with rolled fabric cloth or even old newspaper.

Opt for warm bedding

While you may be using warm blankets to cover yourself, it is time to use thicker bedding. There are thick bedsheets and pillow covers that prevent you from feeling excess cold, unlike the usual cotton ones. This allows the room to feel cosier and warmer even when it’s chilly outside.

Use thermal curtains or drapes on walls

If you feel your space needs more warmth, try covering your walls with thermal curtains. While bare walls make the room look and feel cold, hiding them behind thick fabrics can help add warmth. You can also add cushions and throws to your room that make it feel snug.

Additionally, there are science-backed ways to keep yourself warm when you’re indoors, the first of which is to cover yourself properly. Layering up is the best way to feel cosy. Make use of hand and foot warmers. Sip on something hot. While it may have a temporary effect, it makes you feel cosier. Drink plenty of water and sleep enough, as not doing so can make you fall sick and feel colder.
