Issues raised by me have been in public domain for a long time: Yashwant Sinha

Talking to CNBC-TV18 after his scathing article on the state of the economy, Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha says the government needs a wake-up call.

He said the issues raised by him in the article have been in the public domain for a long time, and not a surprise.

He said the article was the outcome of trying to put all the issues together and point out to the government what the situation was according to a number of people including him.

He said government should take steps to remedy economic situation.

According to him fiscal discipline is extremely important for any economy and liberties with the fisc should not be at the sweet of the government of the day. We have an act of parliament and that has been studied by the committee headed by NK Singh and given its report. Hope the government will act upon committee report and not take short-term palliatives which will add further to the problems, said Sinha.
