India business witnessing double-digit growth: Uber

Uber India and South Asia President Amit Jain said the company has grown to a 1,000-member team in the last four years and has expanded operations to 29 Indian cities.

US-based cab aggregator Uber today said it is witnessing double-digit growth in the country and has completed 500 million trips in four years of operations in the country.

Uber India and South Asia President Amit Jain said the company has grown to a 1,000-member team in the last four years and has expanded operations to 29 Indian cities.

"...we launched in Bangalore with just 3 employees. Today, we're over a 1,000 member team... Achieving new milestones and continuing our exponential growth journey is a reflection of a strong business we're building in India," he said.

Highlighting that India is a key priority market, Jain said it is also one of the largest market after the US in terms of trips.

"We have a robust pipeline of new products and features for both riders and driver partners that will be rolling out in the second half of the year...You will see us continue to launch new products and increase our invest in India," he added.

Jain further said the company's primary objective this year is to build a sustainable business by working together with driver partners and ensuring great customer experience.
