Tata-SIA joint venture carrier Vistara on Thursday crossed the half-a-million passenger mark with the airline achieving the feat in a little over seven month of its operations. The country's third full service airline flew its 5,00,000th passenger from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here to Goa. "The special customer, identified as Paras Johar, was given a warm welcome by Vistara crew at the IGI airport. He was escorted right from the airport entrance to the check-in counters and also upgraded to the business class from the premium economy," the airline said in a release. Vistara chief executive Phee Teik Yeoh presented Johar his upgraded boarding pass and also felicitated him with a complimentary Club Vistara Gold membership, it added. "The sense of accomplishment we feel today is a truly joyous experience and we are glad that so many customers have flown the new feeling with Vistara," Yeoh said.
Vistara, in which Tata Sons holds 51 percent stake while the rest 49 percent is with the Singapore Airlines, had commenced its flight services in January this year. Currently, it operates 245 flights per week to 10 domestic destinations. To mark this special feat, Vistara has also offered a complimentary premium economy-class ticket to its business-class customers, travelling between August 12 to September 30, the release said.
