VE Commercial Vehicles sales up 20% in January

VE Commercial Vehicles today reported 19.8 percent rise in total sales in January at 4,515 units as compared to 3,768 units in the same period last year.

    VE Commercial Vehicles today reported 19.8 percent rise in total sales in January at 4,515 units as compared to 3,768 units in the same period last year.

    The company, a joint venture between Sweden's Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, said total sales of Eicher-branded trucks and buses increased by 20 percent to 4,449 units in January as compared to 3,707 units in the year-ago period.

    In the domestic market, sales of Eicher trucks and buses stood at 3,796 units last month compared with 3,415 units in the year-ago period, up 11.2 percent, VECV said in a statement.

    Exports of Eicher trucks and buses stood at 653 units in January as against 292 units in the same month last year, up 123.6 percent.

    Volvo trucks sold 66 units last month compared to 61 units in January 2016, up 8.2 percent, the company added.
