State-run utility NTPC is entering the wind energy segment and has invited bids from management consultants for setting up of a 100 mw project in the country.

Earlier this week, NTPC floated a tender to hire a consultant for the project.

According to the tender document, the project may consist of one single site of 100 mw or two sites of 50 mw each.

The project will be implemented through engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract basis from concept to commissioning and post commissioning monitoring.

The consultant will prepare cost estimates for the project and finalise tender for EPC contracts.

It will also prepare and submit feasibility report based on the techno-commercial bid evaluation and supervise the project execution phase including erection, testing and commissioning of the project.

NTPC, which has a total installed capacity of 46,653 mw with 18 coal-based and seven gas-based plants, is looking at 1,000 mw power generation via renewable resources by 2017. The firm has already commissioned 110 mw solar projects.
