Nissan to discontinue X-Trail, 370Z in India

The move comes in the wake of Nissan‘s decision to focus on its locally-manufactured models.

Automaker Nissan on Monday announced that it will discontinue the sales of the X-Trail SUV and 370Z coupe in India. The move comes in the wake of Nissan’s decision to focus on its locally-manufactured models. However, the company said that it will continue to sell the Teana luxury sedan.

Nissan currently sells Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano in India, all  of which are made at the company’s manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai. The company said it plans to concentrate on products tailored for India.

Post the excise duty cut announced in the Interim Budget, Nissan slashed the prices across models in the range of 4-6 percent.

Nissan recently ended its partnership with India distributor Hover Automotive. The automaker said it assumed full responsibility for the sales, marketing and distribution of all Nissan-branded vehicles and parts in India, with immediate effect from February 14, 2014.
