Toyota Kirloskar Motor starts Etios exports to South Africa
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has started exporting the Etios series of cars from India to South Africa. It aims to export 20,000 units per year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has started exporting the Etios series of cars from India to South Africa. It aims to export 20,000 units per year.The first shipment of 247 units of the Etios left Ennore Port near Chennai for South Africa on Wednesday.Toyota had launched the Etios sedan in late 2010 and its hatchback version Liva in India last year. The Etios export model will be built on the same platform but customized to suit local requirements, the company said.The Etios is currently manufactured in Toyota Kirloskar's plant at Bidadi, on the outskirts of Bangalore and the export model too will be made there."The start of the export operations at Toyota Kirloskar Motor denotes the growing role of TKM in Toyota's global operations. India has always been a very important market for us and it is further reiterated with the advent of the Etios export to South Africa. TKM's foray into the export market promises a lot of growth for the company," said Vicente Socco, executive vice president, Toyota Motor Asia Pacific.Only the petrol variant of the Etios and Liva will be exported to South Africa for now, the company said.
