Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies has tied up with Airbus India to manufacture all variants of doors for the next-generation A220 aircraft family.

The Dynamatic Technologies contract is the second such door for an Indian firm. Tata Advanced Technologies got the first order for a different type of Airbus aircraft.

“Last year we procured components and services worth $750 million, and our ambition is to double our sourcing in India to $1.5 billion,” Remi Maillard, president and MD, Airbus India & South Asia, said.

The European aviation company said this is the largest such contract in India but didn’t share the financial details. Dynamatic will have end-to-end responsibility to manufacture the door fully.

The announcement was made at an event attended by civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on February 8.

India was not just a market for Airbu but a strategic hub, Maillard said.

Dynamatic Technologies’ Chief Executive Officer Udayant Malhoutra that the company would deliver the first doors to Airbus early next year.

Dynamatic Technologies surged 11.57 percent to a one-year high of Rs 7,790.80 from the previous close. The stock saw heavy trading volumes.

The stock, however, pared most of the gains to close at Rs 7,199 on NSE, up 2.39 percent.

Dynamatic Technologies builds automotive, aeronautic, hydraulic and security applications. It has facilities in Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore and Nasik, as well as in the UK and Germany.

It has three design laboratories in India and Europe and has several patents to its name.

The company already manufactures the Flap Track Beam for A330 and A320 aircraft.

India remains a key market for Airbus, which got last year got orders for more than 700 aircraft from IndiGo and Air India. IndiGo, India's largest airline, has an Airbus-only fleet.

Maillard said India would need 2,840 aircraft by 2035. The country would require 41,000 pilots and 47,000 technical staff over the next 20 years.

Airbus hopes for good demand for orders from the world's most populated country and expects to double its sourcing from $750 million to $1.5 billion.

In 2023, Airbus gave the contract for the manufacturing of bulk and cargo doors for the A320 family of aircraft to Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.
