Karnataka state Congress president DK Shivakumar said that the BJP will not get more than 65 seats in the upcoming state assembly elections.
Shivakumar said that the BJP tally in the assembly polls could sink to as low as 40.
The Congress has projected, in its own survey, that it will win more than 140 seats out of a total of 224 seats.
Shivakumar expressed confidence that more BJP leaders will joing Congress in coming days.
"Former legislators are joining the Congress quitting the BJP. In the coming days, we will also announce the list of sitting legislators who will be joining; discussions are on in this regard. I will not reveal any names for now," Shivakumar said.
Shivakumar said that the public opinion is turning in favour of the Congress. Several leaders are joining the party, he highlighted.
"Like floods, several leaders are joining the party at the district level, some prominent leaders are being inducted here. It is very clear that the public opinion is in favour of the Congress.
He said that the BJP wanted to hold early elections in 2022 after Gujarat polls but backtracked.
