A period, also known as the menstrual cycle, is experienced by women typically every 24 to 38 days. And while it’s normal to go through it, the cramps and the discomfort can be difficult to manage. Additionally, some of the symptoms include mood swings, food cravings, and bloating, causing quite a havoc.

During this time, it is important to prioritise health to manage your body and mind better. Soha Ali Khan recently took to her Instagram account and shared all that she carries in her PMS kit and called it a ‘lifesaver.’ It’s got everything you may need and more.

Pads

They are essential in any period kit. Soha prefers to use pads but suggested you could use “menstrual cups, tampons, or whatever floats your boat.” There are a variety of comfortable options available in the market now.

Painkillers

It is common to experience stomach cramps, backaches, or body pains generally before or at the start of your periods. Painkillers help relieve you from the cramps and discomfort. With plenty of options, you can choose what suits you best. As Soha says, “We don’t push through it, we treat it.”

Extra underwear

It’s always best to be safe and carry extra underwear just like you’d carry an extra pad. Soha said, “Extra underwear because leaks happen and that is not drama. It is biology.” These days, even period-proof underwear is available that helps prevent the risk of leaks and staining.

Chocolate

Many women tend to experience mood swings with fluctuating hormones, naturally reaching out for foods that are comforting. Soha shared that she carries chocolate chip cookies with her or chocolate in any form. If you are conscious about weight gain, dark chocolate works as a good substitute for its health properties.

Water

Water helps you stay hydrated and prevents fatigue from setting in. Soha ensures she consumes enough water throughout the day.

Hot water bag

A hot water bag is the most effective and natural way to relieve your period cramps and back pain. It helps relax the muscles and increase blood flow to the pelvic area, which in turn reduces the pain.

Besides these, Soha also keeps a check on her periods by using a period tracker, adding it’s “just for her peace of mind.”
