Here’s a look at the world’s 10 most expensive dogs and how much they roughly cost.

Tibetan Mastiff

This one was originally raised to protect livestock in the Himalayas, and hence, it is known for being loyal and protective. It’s one of the oldest and rarest breeds and happens to be the costliest. This giant, fluffy dog was once sold for nearly $2 million in China, making it the world’s most expensive dog. It can cost up to Rs 8 lakh.

Chow Chow

Chow Chows are special for their lion-like mane and strong build. They are one of the oldest breeds that were used in China for guarding and hunting. These dogs cost anywhere between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh in India.

Löwchen

Löwchen is a German word that translates to "little lion.” They are a rare breed and reflect social status. Known for their spirited and affectionate demeanor, they were originally bred to sit on laps and keep European royalty warm. To bring them home, you need to shell out up to Rs 10 lakh.

Samoyed

Samoyeds are delightful with their smiling faces and snow-white fluffy coats. These dogs were originally bred in Siberia to herd reindeer and pull sleds across icy terrain. Their grooming makes them all the more expensive, and they may cost up to Rs 11 lakh in India.

Akita Inu

This Japanese dog breed is known for its distinct curled tail and sturdy build. This breed gained popularity due to Japanese Hachiko’s loyalty towards his master, making them a top choice. They’re strong-willed and known for their devotion. They can cost anywhere between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh in India.

Afghan Hound

Nothing compares to an Afghan Hound’s beauty. It boasts flowing, silky hair and a regal posture that is enviable. However, these hounds come at a whopping cost, ranging between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh. While they are gentle and graceful, their upkeep is expensive.

Pharaoh Hound

These hounds are known for being athletic and joyful. They are lean and fit and were often used for hunting in rocky mountains. They are an older breed, and because they are rare and beautiful, they are expensive and may cost up to Rs 6.5 lakh.

Dogo Argentino

These dogs were bred to be powerful hunters. These all-white dogs are muscular and fierce, and can be managed only by experienced owners. They are rarely available outside Argentina, making them expensive. Some of them can cost up to Rs 7.4 lakh.

Saluki

Yet again, these are among the oldest breeds and are called the “Royal Dog of Egypt.” Their smooth and silky coats and prowess make them brilliant sprinters. They make for lovely companions to humans and can cost up to Rs 6.5 lakh.

Canadian Eskimo Dog

This breed is a rarity now, with just about 300 Canadian Eskimo dogs left in the world. They have been part of the Arctic region and are known for being used in sled-pulling. Their numbers have gone down significantly, making them more expensive than ever. They can cost up to Rs 7 lakh.
