Kangana Ranaut’s presence in the winter Parliament session last month caught attention for more than one reason. The actress-turned-politician made a statement wearing the finest handlooms and luxury handbags, turning heads with her style. For those who struggle to layer their Indian outfits in winter, her styling is a fashion masterclass.
Just like Kangana, wear traditional sarees in subtle colours and layer them with contemporary or traditional long woollen coats to keep yourself warm. Whether it’s a plain saree with a border or a checked number, these long coats in neutral tones like beige and grey go well with multiple drapes. Add a tan bag and sunglasses to stand out like her.

If you don’t like layering, opt for sweater-style blouses that come with full sleeves and a round neck. Add a shawl to keep cosy and save yourself the trouble of finding the right wardrobe piece to match with your saree. Both olive and cream are lovely winter hues.

Kangana shows how trench jackets can make all the difference. They look contemporary and sleek when paired with sarees. Even short coats add an edge, and her sea blue saree with a checked pink-and-white coat serves as a fine example. Her black bag, brown suede boots, and sunglasses are perfect additions.

Fashion critic Diet Sabya recently shared the actress’s pictures, praising her look in Parliament. The caption read, “Kangana’s actor-to-politician transition has turned both Parliament and the airport into major hotspots for fashion lessons. From exquisite handlooms to Hermès (Birkins, Kellys, etc.) in all sizes, her appearances read like a syllabus in sartorial style but appropriate.”
“What makes it land is how deeply personal it all feels. You can tell it’s hers, not borrowed, not styled, not airlifted in for optics. The Himachali sweater layered over a collared blouse. The chotu sari with brogues. Everything looks lived-in, owned, and instinctive. No contracts. No PR. You may disagree with her politics, but you can never disagree with her shawl choices. I don’t know what lies ahead for her, but if there’s one department she’s never not delivering, it’s the Ministry of SERVE-o-holics.”
