Tamannaah Bhatia’s trainer Siddhartha Singh took to Instagram and shared three foods everyone must avoid before workout. “If you want better gym performance, what you eat before your workout matters. Many people unknowingly eat foods that slow digestion, cause bloating, or crash their energy mid-workout,” he wrote.

According to Siddhartha, fried foods have a high amount of fat. They slow down digestion and make you feel sleepy. This can affect your performance at the gym. So avoid eating French fries, fried chicken nuggets, donuts, samosas, and other fried foods before you plan to workout.

High-fibre foods

This might come as a surprise, but Siddhartha advised against consuming high-fibre foods. He said, “A big salad is certainly healthy, but not before the gym. With high-fibre foods, you will experience bloating. This will cause trouble not just for you, but for others as well.”

High-sugar foods

A sugar rush is not beneficial for your performance. Siddhartha called sugary foods the worst of all. He explained how they provide an instant burst of energy when consumed, but as soon as you hit the gym, they result in a massive energy crash.

While he asked people to refrain from eating these three types of foods, he also recommended what should ideally be eaten before hitting the gym for optimal performance.

Siddhartha said, “The best thing to eat before your gym is high-carbohydrate, low-fat, low-fibre, moderate protein foods.” He assured that these would give more energy and support your workout goals. “Better pre-workout choices lead to better workouts, better recovery, and better results,” he concluded.
