After dominating the box office with the KGF series and becoming a pan-India star, actor Yash is now set to play Ravana, the Lanka Naresh, in Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus Ramayana: Part 1.
And this time, Yash will not only be seen in front of the camera, but is also in charge of the film's production.
With the first look of the visual extravaganza Ramayana Part 1 out, fans are curious to see more glimpses of the Mighty Ravana onscreen.
Modest Beginnings for Yash
Talking about Yash, he came from modest beginnings in the Kannada cinema industry and then went on to become one of India's most bankable stars.
Yash will bring a fresh and forceful perspective to Ravana, a character often confined to a black-and-white portrayal on screen.
Yash wants to interpret the Ramayana in a way that acknowledges Ravana's depth, majesty, and cultural relevance.
In one of his recent interviews with The Hollywood Reporter, Yash said: "It's a very fascinating character. I wouldn't have done it for any other reason. In Ramayan, if you had asked me 'would you play any other character?' Probably not. For me, Ravana is the most exciting character to play as an actor so I really like the shades and the nuances of a particular character. There's vast scope to present it in a very different way."
Nitesh Tiwari, who has directed films like Dangal and Chhichhore, is helming Ramayana. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
According to sources close to the project, Yash has been heavily involved in the screenplay creation, costume design, and character arc, ensuring that Ravana's journey is presented in depth.
Yash is producing the film under his newly founded banner Monster Mind Creations.
Yash's journey to stardom
Yash was born as Naveen Kumar Gowda in a small village in Karnataka. He started his career with TV shows before shifting his focus to movies. His rise to fame has been remarkable.
Yash made his debut with a TV show titled, 'Mr and Mrs. Ramachari' in 2014, but it was 'KGF Chapter 1' in 2018 directed by Prashanth Neel that catapulted him to immense fame and made him a household name across the country.
The film's sequel, KGF Chapter 2 (2022), shattered all box office records, further solidifying Yash's status as one of the most bankable actors.
What sets Yash apart is his ability to connect with the audiences and masses from different languages and areas.
With Ramayana, he is now taking on a part that involves both passion and delicacy.
With its vast size, spiritual implications, and star-studded ensemble, Ramayana: Part 1 is going to be one of India's most significant cinematic experiences in recent years.
And with Yash leading the charge as Ravana and co-producer, expectations are high. Not only for the film, but for a new era of mythical narrative that combines grandeur, spirit, and depth.
