The highly anticipated box office showdown in December between Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava has now been sidestepped, as the makers of Chhaava have opted to change the release date of their historical drama to avoid the clash.
Pushpa: The Rule was initially set to hit theaters on December 5, while Vicky Kaushal's historical drama Chhaava was slated for release a day later on December 6. According to Mid-day reports, to avoid a box office clash, the producers of Chhaava have chosen to reschedule their film's release date.
Although there is no official confirmation yet by the makers about the changed released date of the film.
Chhaava depicts the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's son Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, based on a novel by Shivaji Sawant. In this historical drama, Vicky Kaushal portrays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Sambhaji’s wife, Yesubai, while Divya Dutta plays his stepmother, Soyarabai. Akshaye Khanna is set to depict the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in this compelling adaptation.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the blockbuster film Pushpa starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. The Telugu film centers around a coolie who ascends within a syndicate involved in the smuggling of red sandalwood, a rare type of wood found exclusively in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh. The cast also features Fahadh Faasil, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, and Ajay Ghosh in key roles, contributing to the film's dynamic storyline.
Interestingly, both the films feature Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady.
