Veteran Tamil actor and comedian Madhan Bob, born Krishnamurthy, passed away at the age of 71 in Chennai on Saturday evening, 2 August, following a prolonged battle with cancer.

A cherished figure in Tamil cinema, his demise at his Adyar residence has left fans and the film fraternity in deep sorrow.

Renowned for his sharp wit and unparalleled comic timing, Madhan Bob’s contributions to the silver screen earned him a special place in the hearts of audiences across generations.

Over the years, he starred in numerous Tamil films, often sharing screen space with legendary actors such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, Vijay, and Suriya. Among his most iconic films are Vaaname Ellai, Thevar Magan, and Poove Unakkaaga, which showcased his flair for comedy and distinctive screen presence.

Choreographer-actor Prabhudeva, who worked closely with Madhan Bob, paid tribute on social media. He posted a heartfelt message on X, saying, "We shared the screen, and his presence always brought joy to the set. Cheerful, kind, and full of humour he made everyone feel happy around him. Heartfelt condolences to his family. He’ll always be remembered."

Beyond cinema, Madhan Bob was also a familiar face on television. He gained significant popularity as a judge on the popular comedy show Asathapovadhu Yaaru, where his infectious laughter and honest commentary made him a fan favourite. His influence extended to several serials, further cementing his status as a household name.

Few knew that Madhan Bob began his artistic journey as a musician. A trained keyboardist, he beautifully merged his love for music with his comedic prowess, crafting a unique on-screen persona.
