Upasana Kamineni Konidela shares Ram Charan's eating habits

Indian film actor Ram Charan has been riding on the success of his Oscar-winning RRR. The actor has received international recognition with his global fans dancing to Naatu Naatu. Despite earning global stardom, the actor prefers to strictly follow a simple habit, having at least one Indian meal daily.

During a recent appearance on Masoom Minawala’s YouTube channel, Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana Kamineni Konidela, reflected on the actor’s eating habits, which draws similarities to another superstar, Chiranjeevi.

Upasana shared, “My husband has to eat Indian food wherever we are in the world. One meal has to be Indian.” She added, “We try our best to search for good restaurants, but there are some staples that he loves. So my mother-in-law has created these staples into ready mixes. We take a cooker wherever we go. We put it in the shower, plug it in so we don’t have fire alarm going anywhere and you have home-cooked food.”

However, Upasana further noted that she and her team use a clever trick to avoid setting off hotel fire alarms. They cook in the bathroom using an electric cooker.

Upasana further revealed that Ram Charan's love for home-cooked food inspired a new venture, Atthamma's Kitchen, started by his mother, Surekha Konidela. She used to make ready mixes for her family, and now it's a small business sharing their favorite comfort food.

She shared, “So many people need homemade food because after a point, they can’t eat outside. My mother-in-law’s ready mixes are homemade and have very short shelf life so they are very fresh. It is called Atthamma’s Kitchen.”

For the unversed, Ram Charan's tradition of traveling with a cooker actually started with his father, Chiranjeevi, who also carried his own cooking setup on international trips. Ram Charan's mother, Surekha, made special ready mixes for Chiranjeevi, and now she continues this tradition for their son, Ram Charan.
