Former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover recently made headlines after he disclosed that he received an invitation to compete as a wildcard on Bigg Boss 19.
Ashneer posted a screenshot of an email purportedly sent by the show's Senior Casting Coordinator inviting him to participate in the well-liked reality show on social media on Friday, September 26.
The email described Ashneer as a “strong candidate” for the contentious show and praised his “dynamic personality” and “engaging social media presence.” However, the authenticity of the email has not been confirmed.
Sharing the screenshot, Ashneer made a subtle remark about Bigg Boss host Salman Khan.
He wrote, “Haha! Salman bhai se pooch le!! Mai to free ho jaaunga tab tak. (Haha! Ask Salman Bhai. I would get free till then. Yeh ‘mail merge’ kisi ki to naukri khayega.(This mail merge will take away someone's job)”
Ashneer added, “(For context, ‘mail merge’ refers to a tool used to send mass personalised emails implying the invite may not have been personally crafted.)”
However, this is not the first time that Ashneer and Salman have publicly argued.
Salman's team was approached by Ashneer, the co-founder of BharatPe at the time, to onboard him as a brand ambassador in 2019, which is when their alleged fallout began. Ashneer claims that when he asked for a picture with the superstar during a shoot, Salman's manager turned him down, saying that the actor wasn't at ease with taking pictures at the time.
The duo’s dispute further escalated when Ashneer made an appearance in a special Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 18. Salman publicly criticised him on the show for the remarks he made regarding his fees and public image. Later, Ashneer responded with a thorough note that reflected on his experience and the structure of the show.
