Tom Holland to return to ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ set next week after injury

Tom Holland will be back on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day set next week after taking a brief break due to a mild concussion sustained on Friday.

Instead of trying to continue filming without their star, Sony executives decided to pause production for a full week. Insiders say this cautious approach won’t affect the film’s scheduled July 31, 2026 release.

Currently he is taking a break out of an abundance of caution,  a source close to the production told reporters.

Tom Holland, known for his high-energy stunts, was able to attend a charity event on Saturday for The Brothers Trust, the organization he runs with his brothers, signaling that his condition is improving.

Returning to Action

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked with Marvel on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the upcoming Wonder Man TV series, Brand New Day reunites Spider-Man regulars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as MJ and Ned.

The cast also includes Marvel heavyweights Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jon Bernthal reprising The Punisher. New additions include Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, Severance’s Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando, returning as The Scorpion from 2017’s Homecoming.

Holland’s Spider-Man films have been major box-office successes. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) remains Sony’s highest-grossing release ever, pulling in $1.91 billion worldwide, while 2019’s Far From Home became the first Spider-Man film to surpass $1 billion.
