Sunny Deol is in a phase where box office numbers are reinforcing a decades-long emotional connection with audiences.
At the press conference, he kept his reaction grounded. “I would just like to say a few words about the box office. The numbers are more than that. I mean, obviously, the numbers are more. I mean, a lot of people have seen it. We liked the movie. And that is why the numbers are increasing,” he said, suggesting that collections are a result, not the goal.
He added, “And I am sure that the public liked what we made,” making it clear that audience approval matters more than the headline figure.
Speaking about the continued impact of Border, Sunny described how the film still follows him on road trips across the country. “Wherever I have stopped, people have given me a lot of love… I met so many army people, so many soldiers,” he said. “Someone has seen it once, someone has seen it three times. And everyone just said that they liked it a lot. The movie made us cry.”
Gadar 2 emerged as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever, collecting around Rs 691 crore worldwide, driven by mass circuits and repeat viewings in North India. Jaat crossed approximately Rs 119 crore globally, performing strongly in its core belt and reinforcing Sunny’s pull in action-driven cinema.
Meanwhile, Border 2 has reportedly grossed over Rs 460 crore worldwide so far, sustaining steady momentum with patriotic appeal and ensemble casting. Together, these films underline Sunny Deol’s rare resurgence, combining nostalgia, mass emotion and commercial muscle at the box office.
Sunny Deol began his career with Betaab in 1983 and quickly became known for intense action dramas. Films like Arjun, Ghayal, Damini and Border established him as a powerful screen presence with a strong patriotic image. Over decades, he built a loyal mass following. With Gadar and its sequel, he proved his box office strength still resonates across generations.
