Rajpal Yadav’s elder brother Shripal Yadav has stated that despite widespread claims on social media about financial help being extended to the actor, the family has not received any such assistance. The remarks come days after Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 following directions from the Delhi High Court in a long-pending cheque bounce case dating back to 2010.

The case pertains to an alleged outstanding amount of nearly Rs 9 crore linked to Rajpal Yadav’s directorial venture Aata Pata Lapata. The film, released in 2012, failed at the box office. According to court proceedings, the original borrowing of Rs 5 crore from M/s Murli Projects Pvt. Ltd. reportedly escalated over time due to interest and penalties.

Amid reports of support pouring in for the actor, Shripal Yadav told Dainik Bhaskar that the family has not been informed of any monetary help. “If people have helped, please tell us where the money was given. The person who manages Rajpal's account has also not confirmed any financial assistance. If anyone has helped, where was the money given? To whom was it given? Why is the family unaware of this? If someone has truly helped, the family will be grateful. It's just rhetoric on social media, and if that's true, it's false,” he said.

Speaking about his last interaction with his brother before he surrendered, Shripal shared details with NDTV. “He called me and said, ‘Don't worry. I have to go to court for a day, and some legal procedures will be completed,’” Shripal Yadav said, adding that Rajpal had assured him he would return soon.

Meanwhile, Shripal clarified reports suggesting that there was a somber atmosphere at the family home. He said preparations are underway for his daughter’s wedding and dismissed claims of mourning. “We're confident he'll be back tomorrow. Our daughter's wedding is also taking place at home, and preparations are underway. I don't know which journalist came here, disgruntled, and started saying there's mourning in the house. Hey, how can there be mourning where 50 laborers are working and we're all busy? It was noon, the laborers must have been eating, and no one was home. He probably took the photo to show mourning in the house,” he said.

He further added, “There's no disappointment at home. We're excitedly preparing, and we know he'll be arriving tomorrow and we'll be able to celebrate with great pomp and show. There's no problem. Since he's the main attraction, his presence is crucial. We're praying to God that he'll come tomorrow.”

Confirming that Rajpal had invested in the film, Shripal stated, “Rajpal assured me that he would prove that he had not taken any loans. He had invested the money in the film.”

The Delhi High Court had directed Rajpal Yadav on February 2, 2026, to surrender before jail authorities by 4 pm on February 4. He has been serving his sentence since complying with the court’s order.
