The Marvel fandom woke up to another jolt this week. Just a day after three teaser clips from Avengers: Doomsday leaked online, the first trailer of Spider-Man: Brand New Day — widely referred to as Spider-Man 4 — also surfaced on social media. The leak quickly spread across platforms before Sony began pulling it down.
Brand New Day is one of two major MCU titles slated for 2026, and expectations around the Tom Holland-led sequel have been unusually high since Marvel has kept the project tightly under wraps.
Until now, there was no indication that a trailer or teaser was even close to release, which is partly why this leak has created a bigger stir than the Doomsday teasers.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have not issued any statement about the authenticity of the footage.
However, Sony has already started sending Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown notices to accounts that uploaded or reshared the leaked trailer.
The studio has targeted platforms like X and Reddit, where the clip was gaining traction. This response alone has led fans to believe the leak might be genuine.
The pattern mirrors what happened back in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home, when a rough-cut trailer also leaked online, prompting swift legal action from Sony. That incident didn’t delay the marketing rollout, but this time the situation is different.
Marvel already has Avengers: Doomsday dominating the promotional calendar, and the studio may not want competing hype at this moment.
The leaked Doomsday clips teased the return of Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, along with Robert Downey Jr in a new avatar as Doctor Doom. With that film already driving the conversation, a Spider-Man 4 teaser may not have been planned for December at all.
There is also no clarity on when fans can expect the official Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Some rumours suggested Sony might attach it to the Christmas release of Anaconda, a Sony-distributed title hitting theatres on December 25. But given the unexpected leaks and the heavy focus on Doomsday in Marvel’s current marketing cycle, an official teaser might get pushed to early next year.
For now, the only certainty is that both studios are aggressively removing the leaked footage while fans dissect every frame that briefly appeared online. The MCU’s 2026 lineup was already packed with anticipation, and these back-to-back leaks have only added more fuel to the fire.
