In a recent interview with Moneycontrol, actress Sonali Kulkarni opened about her latest role and the evolving landscape of entertainment, especially with the rise of OTT platforms. She discussed the depth and complexity of her character, Hema, and how it differs from traditional portrayals in film. Sonali also highlighted the advantages of OTT for audiences, emphasizing the accessibility it provides.

When discussing her character, Hema, in her upcoming project, Sonali expressed how the role resonated with her. She noted, "When I read the script, I was intrigued by the complex connections and challenges within this family. Hema is not your typical 20-year-old chasing love; she’s a woman in her 40s who openly reflects on her life mistakes."

Sonali appreciates that Hema is portrayed as a multi-dimensional person rather than a stereotypical heroine or villain. "It was refreshing to see a character painted in shades of gray," she explained. "Hema is optimistic despite her struggles, and that depth makes her relatable."

Working alongside talented actors like Sobhita Dhulipala and Rajeev Siddhartha, Sonali found the collaboration enriching. She praised Rajeev's sincerity towards his craft, saying, "He is one of the most promising actors, and it's inspiring to see someone so dedicated to their career." As for Sobhita, Sonali described her as one of the finest young talents in the industry. "She’s not just a beautiful actress; she delves into her characters with a depth that’s commendable."
With the rise of OTT platforms, Sonali discussed how they have changed the game for audiences and actors alike. "OTT has become a blessing for film lovers. Now, audiences can watch content at their convenience," she noted. She recognizes that this shift allows viewers to enjoy performances without the pressure of theater timings. "People can watch my work anywhere, whether at home, in their car, or even at the gym. It makes entertainment so accessible."

Sonali believes that her role choices are guided by her engagement with the script. "When I’m considering a project, I assess my patience level during the storytelling. If I find my mind wandering, I know it’s not the right fit for me," she explained. She emphasized the importance of being captivated by the story and characters, especially at this stage in her career. "I’m not just looking for flashy roles; I want something that resonates with me on a deeper level."

Her upcoming web series, "Manavath," promises to showcase another compelling character. Sonali mentioned, "In this role, audiences will empathize with my character’s journey. I aim to surprise viewers with the depth and challenges my character faces."

For Sonali, acting is not just about performing; it’s about evoking emotions and creating connections with the audience. She added, "If I can present a character that makes people think, 'How did she do that?' then I’ve achieved my goal."
