Former Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan is all set to begin a new chapter in his personal life as he prepares to marry his longtime girlfriend, Sophie Shine. According to a report by HT City, the wedding celebrations are scheduled to take place in the third week of February in the Delhi-NCR region. While the couple has chosen to keep the details private, preparations for the grand ceremony are already underway.

Sources close to the couple revealed that the wedding will be a lavish yet intimate affair, with several prominent names from the cricketing fraternity and Bollywood expected to attend.

“It’s a new beginning and they are treating it with quiet happiness and a lot of gratitude,” a source told the publication. The source also added that Shikhar Dhawan is personally involved in planning every aspect of the ceremony, reflecting how special this milestone is for him.

Sophie Shine, an Irish national, has been a constant presence in Shikhar Dhawan’s life over the past few years. Their relationship first caught public attention when the couple was spotted together in the stands during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Reports suggest that Dhawan and Shine met in Dubai a few years ago, where their friendship gradually blossomed into a romantic relationship. The couple has reportedly been living together for over a year.

Shikhar Dhawan was previously married to Ayesha Mukherjee, with whom he shares an 11-year-old son, Zoravar Dhawan. The former couple divorced in 2023 after a long legal battle. Since then, Dhawan has maintained a dignified silence about his personal struggles, choosing instead to focus on family, fitness, and life beyond professional cricket.

Apart from his personal life, Shikhar Dhawan has remained vocal about his admiration for fellow cricketer Virat Kohli. In a recent interaction on Backstage with Boria, hosted by Boria Majumdar, Dhawan praised Kohli’s hunger, discipline, and mental strength. Recalling their early days, Dhawan spoke about captaining Kohli during the Ranji Trophy and witnessing his extraordinary clarity about the game at a very young age.

“He was just 16 or 17 but already had immense focus,” Dhawan said. He further highlighted Kohli’s resilience, recalling how the former India captain chose to bat and score runs on the day his father passed away — a moment Dhawan believes defined Kohli’s character and unwavering commitment to cricket.
