Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 in works? Director Kabir Khan says he has discussed the sequel with actor

Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s 2015 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences, with Harshaali Malhotra’s portrayal of the endearing Munni leaving a lasting impression. Now, exciting news has emerged that a sequel may be on the cards.

In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, director Kabir Khan confirmed that he and Salman Khan have been in discussions about reuniting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. While conversations are ongoing, Kabir emphasized that they are approaching the project with caution and respect for the original film’s legacy.

“We have definitely spoken about Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. In today’s day and age, when all franchises are doing well, we are being careful about Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, as we don’t want to make a sequel to the most popular film of the last two decades for the sake of it,” Kabir stated.

He further explained, “We don’t want to spoil the legacy of a beautiful film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan. If and when a story hits us – maybe now, or a year later – we will definitely bring Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.”

Although Kabir has never been one to follow the sequel trend throughout his career, he acknowledged that Bajrangi Bhaijaan holds a unique emotional connection for him.

“I would love to direct Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 but for the right reasons and not the wrong ones. I don’t want to do it for the sake of box office numbers, but to do justice to the legacy of a cult like Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” he added.

While Kabir Khan is currently focused on his next project, fans are waiting with bated breath to see whether the sequel to one of Bollywood’s most beloved films will finally take shape.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar alongside Rashmika Mandanna. It released in march 2025. It failed it impress the audience and underperformed at the box office.
