Actor Prakash Raj has wrapped up a key phase of shooting for Varanasi, and his update feels less like a routine production note and more like a genuine reflection from a performer still excited by his craft.

Sharing the news on social media, the actor spoke warmly about the experience and the people he worked with, underlining how creatively energising the project has been for him.

Confirming the end of the schedule, Prakash Raj wrote: “Wrapped up a wonderful schedule of #Varanasi a joy to the hungry actor within me it was exhilarating to work with you all can’t wait to resume the next schedule.”

The message struck a personal note, suggesting that the film has given him space to challenge himself as an actor. While the makers have not revealed details about his role, the enthusiasm in his words points to a character of real narrative importance rather than a brief appearance.

Varanasi is currently in production under the direction of SS Rajamouli, whose projects are known for their scale and meticulous planning. The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role of Rudhra, a character expected to anchor the story’s emotional and action-driven core.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Mandakini, marking a much-anticipated return to Indian cinema, while Prithviraj Sukumaran takes on the role of antagonist Kumbha, setting up a formidable clash.

Reportedly made on a staggering budget of Rs 1300 crore, Varanasi is being developed as a globe-spanning action adventure, with filming planned across several international locations.

Multiple schedules are still to be completed, and the long production timeline reflects the ambition behind the project. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas in 2027, and expectations are already running high given SS Rajamouli’s track record.

Known for his ability to move effortlessly between large-scale blockbusters and intense character-driven performances, Prakash Raj remains one of Indian cinema’s most respected and dependable actors.
