Prabhas’ much-awaited film The Raja Saab hit theatres on January 9 and sparked massive excitement among fans. However, in a bizarre and alarming incident, some fans were seen burning confetti inside a theatre in Odisha during the screening.
While the visuals of fans setting confetti on fire inside the cinema created a striking and unforgettable scene, not everyone perceived it as an expression of fandom. Several netizens questioned the maturity of the act and called it unacceptable fan behaviour.
A video capturing the moment soon surfaced online and rapidly went viral. Initially, the visuals appeared to be just another instance of fan frenzy and celebration. But as flames began rising within the enclosed theatre space, the atmosphere took a disturbing turn. What was intended as a celebratory gesture soon started looking extremely dangerous.
Many social media users were quick to criticise the incident. The video drew widespread attention online, with viewers expressing serious concerns about safety risks and the lack of basic decorum during a public screening. Several users highlighted that such actions not only disrupt the cinema experience but could also put lives at risk in a crowded theatre.
One viewer commented that such conduct endangers others and ultimately harms the actor’s image. Another remarked that genuine fans would never engage in behaviour that could potentially cause harm to people inside a packed cinema hall.
One user wrote, One user expressed disappointment, saying, “This is the maturity of Prabhas fans. I’m not talking about Darling, I’m talking about the fans. This is not what you guys should have done. Please behave like mature adults. This is not your house; it’s very bad. You guys are shaming Prabhas’ name with this kind of behaviour.”
Another pointed out, “If Prabhas' true fans were die-hard supporters, they would never have done this.”

Meanwhile, The Raja Saab also features Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal in pivotal roles.
Moneycontrol’s review of the horror-comedy stated, "Overall, The Raja Saab is a horror fantasy that works in some areas but never entirely comes together. Prabhas' attempt at comedy is honest but not very good. The female characters aren't well written, and the movie is lethargic and has difficulties with tone. There are some interesting sequences in the second half, but they aren't enough to make the experience better."
