  • The Raja Saab dethrones Dhurandhar at the box office after 35 days
  • Prabhas' film earns over Rs 6 crore by 10 am on its first day
  • Released in five languages, The Raja Saab enjoys pan-Indian reach

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar had been ruling the Indian box office for five glorious weeks. Even as new films arrived, it held strong, refusing to see any major dip in collections.

However, all reigns eventually come to an end, and this time it required a superstar of Prabhas' calibre to ascend to the throne.

His latest film, The Raja Saab, knocked Dhurandhar off the top spot after 35 days, and remarkably, it did so before 10 am on its very first day.

The excitement around The Raja Saab’s opening is palpable. Trade insiders revealed that by 10 am on Friday, the film had already earned over Rs 6 crore net, thanks to paid previews on Thursday evening and early morning shows.

To put that in perspective, Dhurandhar earned Rs 4.25 crore net for the full day on its 35th day in theatres. Clearly, audiences were eager to catch Prabhas back on the big screen, and they did not disappoint.

The fact that The Raja Saab was released in five languages—Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada—giving it a genuinely pan-Indian reach only serves to highlight this achievement.

Trade analysts are optimistic that The Raja Saab could cross the Rs 60-crore mark in domestic collections on day one.

The film also enjoyed an unexpected boost when Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was postponed, freeing up 250 additional screens in Tamil Nadu. With no major competition in the region on Friday, the film’s Tamil collections are likely to soar.

While Jana Nayagan has now received its CBFC certification and is expected to release before Pongal on Wednesday, giving it a chance to reclaim the box office crown, The Raja Saab is savouring its moment at the top for now.

Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ return to the family entertainer genre, blending horror and comedy with his signature charm.

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab, creating a cast that adds both warmth and humour.

Released on 9 January, just ahead of the Sankranti weekend, the film has clearly struck a chord with audiences, proving once again that Prabhas can command attention across languages, genres, and generations.
