  • Anil Ravipudi delivers a family entertainer with humor and emotional moments
  • Bheems Ceciroleo's music and strong cast add to the film's Sankranthi appeal

Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu finally hit theaters today, and people were very excited about it. People already had high hopes for Anil Ravipudi after his last movie, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, did so well. The buzz grew even stronger when it was announced that he would be working with Chiranjeevi.

It had three number-one songs and a big advertising campaign behind it.

The big questions now are: does Chiranjeevi get back to his classic comic brilliance? Does Anil Ravipudi keep his hit streak going? How did Bheems Ceciroleo do in his first movie with the Megastar? And does the movie have what it takes to win the Sankranthi?

Plot:

Sasirekha (Nayanthara), the daughter of one of India's richest business people, falls in love with Shankara Vara Prasad (Chiranjeevi), a middle-class man who also works as a national security agent. She marries Vara Prasad against her father's wishes, but her father gets in the way and forces them to break up. As things get worse, Sasirekha's father becomes the target of a criminal gang that no one knows about. This adds to the mystery. The story is mostly about why the couple broke up, who attacked them, how Vara Prasad tries to bring his family back together, and what the character Venky Gowda means.

Performances:

Chiranjeevi gives what is easily his most relaxed and confident performance since he came back in 2017. As Vara Prasad, he shines with his natural ability to deliver lines, perfect comic timing, and controlled emotions. The part lets him be himself instead of being forced into a larger-than-life mould, and the result is very satisfying. He is very comfortable with the character, which comes across on screen, making the movie mostly his one-man show.

Venkatesh plays Venky Gowda in a long cameo role. He brings charm and warmth to his parts, has great chemistry with Chiranjeevi, and lights up the screen in a dance number. But the writing for his song could have been better.

Nayanthara is a good choice for Sasirekha because she gives a calm performance and has good chemistry with Chiranjeevi on screen.

Zarina Wahab does a great job as Vara Prasad's mother. One of the most emotional parts of the movie is when she and Nayanthara have a powerful fight. As members of Vara Prasad's team, Catherine Tresa, Harsha Vardhan, and Abhinav Gomatam add some light humor. Sachin Khedekar and Sharat Saxena, on the other hand, bring a lot of experience to the table. Sudev Nair does a great job as the bad guy, and the child actors who play the couple's kids add a lot of warmth to the story. As expected, Master Revanth's scenes make people laugh out loud.

Technicalities:

One of the best things about the movie is Bheems Ceciroleo's music. The songs are story-driven and have beautiful melodies. The lyrics are more important than the loud instruments. The stories of "Sasirekha" and "Meesala Pilla" fit perfectly into the story. The songs are good, but the background music could have been better, especially during action scenes.

Sameer Reddy's cinematography is nice and fits the mood of a family movie. The visuals during the "Sasirekha" song and the parts about boarding school are very interesting. Most of Tammiraju's editing is sharp, but the pacing could have been better if the cuts were a little tighter. Shine Screens and Gold Box Entertainments make sure the movie looks good without going overboard with the production values.

What works:

Chiranjeevi's performance was easy for him.

Funny scenes at the right time

Most of the screenplay is interesting

Songs that sound good

Chiranjeevi and the kids having emotional moments

What doesn’t:

At times, the pacing is off.

Venkatesh is involved in an underwritten track

Analysis:

Chiranjeevi has often been expected to bring back his "vintage" persona since he came back to the movies in 2017 with Khaidi No. 150. Sometimes, this has meant that he has to act in ways that aren't natural. Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is different from the rest. Anil Ravipudi smartly makes Vara Prasad a simple, down-to-earth character so that Chiranjeevi can act without having to be overly heroic. This creative decision pays off well, as the Megastar looks relaxed, expressive, and completely interesting the whole time.

One of the best things about the movie is how Chiranjeevi can show emotions even when there is no dialogue, especially in the early scenes with Nayanthara. His body language and facial expressions speak for him, which shows that he is the best actor on screen. He is at his best in the movie's funny scenes, which remind people why he was once the best comedian in Telugu cinema.

Anil Ravipudi combines a simple plot with his trademark mix of humor and emotion, which keeps the laughs coming at regular intervals. The parts with the kids, the fight between Zarina Wahab and Nayanthara, and some of the funny parts in the second half show that he knows how to appeal to family audiences. The director doesn't repeat himself, even with Master Revanth, and shows the actor in a new way, which works well.

The movie does have some problems, though. The first part takes a while to get going, and the second half has problems with pacing. Even though the Venky Gowda track has a lot of star power, it doesn't have the punch to move the story forward. Also, the reason for the couple's breakup could have been looked at in a more emotional way.

Verdict:

Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is a great family entertainer with a strong holiday appeal, even though it has a few flaws. Chiranjeevi's relaxed and charming acting, Anil Ravipudi's stories that are easy to understand, and Bheems Ceciroleo's calming music all make for a good Sankranthi watch. Leave your brain at the door and enter Vara Prasad's world for a fun movie night with the whole family. Anil Ravipudi keeps winning, and Chiranjeevi shows once again that he is the best at making people laugh without trying.
