Malayalam actor Maniyanpilla Raju was allegedly involved in a road accident in Thiruvananthapuram after his car collided with a two-wheeler while he was exiting the Trivandrum Club late last night. Following the collision, the actor reportedly left the spot without stopping the vehicle.

The accident resulted in injuries to two youngsters who were riding the motorcycle. Both victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Later, Maniyanpilla Raju reportedly informed the police that he would appear before them the following morning.

According to a report by Manorama, the incident occurred at around 9.30 pm on February 5. The injured have been identified as Sooraj, 20, and Nidev, 20, both residents of Thiruvananthapuram.

Police have registered a case against the actor under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 134 (A) and 134 (B) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

On Friday morning, the 70-year-old actor arrived at the Museum police station to give his statement and explain the events surrounding the accident. Speaking to the media, Maniyanpilla Raju said, "I panicked after the accident and returned home. I am a cancer survivor and am currently suffering from chikungunya."

Meanwhile, a late-night road accident in Thiruvananthapuram has left two young men critically injured after a car registered in the name of Malayalam actor Maniyanpilla Raju allegedly rammed into their motorcycle. According to reports, police have confirmed that the actor has been arrested in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway.

The actor has been taken for a medical examination, and officials have stated that if alcohol content is detected in his blood test, additional charges will be added to the case.

Addressing the allegations, Maniyanpilla Raju claimed that he had informed others at the spot to assist the injured youngsters. "I was unable to help them at that point. My wife was also alone at home. However, I informed others to help the injured," he said.

Initial findings suggest that the car involved in the accident was being driven in a rash and negligent manner at the time of the collision. The driver allegedly fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance to the victims or alert the authorities, thereby posing a serious risk to other road users.
