  • Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi already cast in lead roles
  • Ramayana to release in two parts on Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027

Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious retelling of the Ramayana is quickly becoming one of the biggest movies ever made in Indian cinema. The project has been making waves in the industry since Ranbir Kapoor and Yash were already cast in key roles of Lord Ram and Ravana.

Now, a new rumor about casting has made things even more exciting. Reports say that Vijay Sethupathi might be joining the amazing cast.

Rumor has it that the makers are talking to the well-known actor about playing Vibhishana, Ravana's younger brother. In the epic story, Vibhishana is a voice of right and wrong. He chooses the path of dharma over blood ties by joining Lord Rama.

Fans and people in the film industry are both very excited about the possibility of Vijay Sethupathi being cast in the role because he has a proven track record of bringing complex, emotionally rich characters to life.

The movie already has a great cast. Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Rama, and Yash will play Ravana, who is strong and scary. Sai Pallavi has been cast as Sita, which makes the cast even stronger. If Sethupathi is confirmed to be in the movie, it will be much more appealing to people all over India. However, the makers or the actor have not yet made an official announcement.

Ramayana is getting a lot of attention not only because of its stars, but also because of how big it is. AR Rahman is writing the music, and he is working with Hans Zimmer, a world-famous composer, to make an epic sound experience. The project is going to be a two-part story, with the first part coming out on Diwali 2026 and the second part coming out on Diwali 2027.

In the meantime, Vijay Sethupathi has a lot of work to do. He was last seen in the silent movie Gandhi Talks, which came out on January 30, 2026. The actor has also finished filming Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, which was directed by Puri Jagannadh and starred Tabu.

He will also have a special role in Jailer 2, which stars Rajinikanth and is expected to come out by the middle of 2026. He will also have a role in Vetrimaaran's Arasan.

If Vibhishana gets the role in the Ramayana, it could be one of the most important and memorable roles of Vijay Sethupathi's career, putting him at the center of a movie that is sure to get a lot of attention around the world.
