Telugu actor Rana Daggubati, who was last seen in Netflix's Rana Naidu Season 2, has always been very selective over the kind of roles he wants to do. It has been the same since his debut movie Leader in 2010.
The actor, who is gearing up for the release of Kaantha which he has co-produced with Dulquer Salmaan, told The Hollywood Reporter, that Dulquer was perfect for the role.
Malayalam actor plays the lead in Kaantha.
Rana was asked by the anchor about co-producing the movie with Dulquer and why didn't he play the lead himself. To this, he said, “Each story decides who its actor is in some manner, and everyone is right for a certain role. And I think if you’re trying to be a producer of a film, it’s about finding the best for that story. The second I heard it, I didn’t see anyone but Dulquer in it. So I was like, if he probably wasn’t in it, we probably would not have made the film.”

Rana was all praise for Dulquer Salmaan and called him a ‘secure’ actor. “Dulquer is so secure in terms of just being an actor, things don’t need to go into a mainstream beat of things for him to create a successful film. So I think in that way, he was probably the best guy to collaborate with.”
Rana added that throughout his 15-year career, he has only enjoyed "some things" as an actor, which is why he has only portrayed 10–12 roles that hold special meaning for him.
