Actor Shweta Tripathi has started 2026 on an energising note, wrapping up the shoot of her first project of the year, the social drama Palkon Pe.
Filmed in Bhopal, the experience marks another meaningful chapter in Shweta’s career — one that reflects her continued gravitation towards stories that challenge, provoke and stay with audiences long after the credits roll.
The film went on floors in December last year and followed a tight, demanding schedule that required the cast and crew to work continuously across several locations in and around Bhopal.
The shoot was physically exhausting, but it also helped foster a sense of closeness among the team. That shared intensity, those behind the project believe, will be visible on screen.
Palkon Pe stars Shweta Tripathi alongside Abhishek Chauhan and Eshan Naqvi, and is written and directed by ad filmmaker Niddhish Puuzhakkal, who brings a deeply introspective approach to storytelling.
Known for his sensitivity towards human behaviour, Niddhish uses this film to explore complex themes such as gender equality, mental health, sexuality and divorce — topics often treated superficially or avoided altogether. At the centre of the story is Shraddha Agarwal, a layered character played by Shweta Tripathi, whose journey unfolds with emotional honesty rather than easy answers.
The film is produced by Rahul Gandhi’s Tamboo Entertainment and Saleem Javed’s Zaria Entertainment, and is positioned as a social drama that aims to spark conversation without losing its emotional core. Palkon Pe is scheduled for release in 2026.
Speaking about the shoot, Shweta Tripathi shared her thoughts in a detailed note: "Shooting across Bhopal over a continuous; gruelling schedule really pushed all of us, but it also created a sense of camaraderie and honesty that reflects in the work we've done. What drew me to Palkon Pe was the courage of its storytelling. It doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable questions around divorce, gender equality, sexuality and mental health that are often spoken about in hushed tones or oversimplified. Niddhish has such a unique way of looking at human behaviour; he brings a psychologist’s sensitivity to every frame, every silence, every emotion. As an actor, that kind of direction allows you to dig deeper, to sit with discomfort, and to be truthful."
She also spoke warmly about her co-stars, adding, "Working with my co-actors Abhishek and Eshan was equally enriching. Everyone brought such sincerity to the table, and that made even the toughest days feel purposeful. Palkon Mein is a story that stayed with me after the camera cut, and I genuinely hope it resonates with audiences when it releases."
With its intimate storytelling and socially relevant themes, Palkon Pe promises to be a film that speaks quietly, yet powerfully, when it arrives on screen later this year.
